I have had an amazing 12 days or so of skyscape photography from my own yard, and have to share. 
About 2 days before the winter solstice (Dec. 21st) I started seeing some really amazing cloud formations. On the afternoon of the 21st I began taking photos of the sky as I often do when it strikes me as beautiful.
Being that the moon was rising so early in the day (and I love attempting to take shots bodies in the night sky) I thought it might be a chance to pull some detail from the moon I can't usually get at night.
Whoa nelly, was I impressed with the result of just the first few shots.
There has been some Terrific night sky viewing happening all around the world for the past couple of weeks. Luckily even in lil' ol' small town NC, I have been able to capture some shots of the moon, stars and other plants in our system that I never thought I would.....especially with my under $300 canon.
I know there are others that have gotten much better shots than mine, but I hope you enjoy!
(i am aware that the times noted on the photos do not match the camera info., but did not realize my camera never set itself back an hour in the fall until the wee hours of the morning on the 29th. The times on the Photos are the Correct times.)
